Dismissed Police Officer Arrested for Impersonating Traffic Officer

The Police in Kampala are holding a dismissed police officer who was arrested while impersonating as a traffic police officer.

Rusoke Kituuma, the Police spokesperson identified the suspect as Police Constable Ojok Isaac Newton, a 36-year-old male.

Kituuma said Ojik was on September 19, 2024 apprehended by the Old Kampala police for unlawfully impounding motorcycles on the Queensway Flyover that feeds into Entebbe Road while posing as a traffic officer. 

“This act occurred after he had been dismissed from the police force. PC Ojok had previously served in the Counter-Terrorism Tourism unit but was dismissed from the Police Force due to disciplinary issues,” he said.

He added that; “Despite his dismissal, Ojok continued to impersonate a traffic officer and engaged in a number of unauthorized activities.” 

The police mouthpiece said that Ojok is set to face legal consequences for his actions. “The Uganda Police Force is committed to taking decisive measures against such impersonators and urges the public to report any suspicious individuals they may encounter,” he urged.
