Catholic Priest Suspended for Stealing sh6m Offertory Murders URA Official

Police have arrested a Catholic Priest who allegedly murdered a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) official on Saturday.

Rusoke Kituuma, the Police spokesperson has identified the suspect as Dominic Alinga, a priest at the Catholic parish of Iriiri in Nakapiripirit district. Police have also identified the deceased as John Bosco Ngorok (30), an employee of the URA attached to the Domestic Tax Department.

Kituuma said that Ngorok was killed by stabbing both in the neck and on the head by an unknown assailant on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at around 1:50am, along the road from Kitooro to Entebbe International Airport.

“Ngorok was rushed to a Grade B hospital by the police but was pronounced dead 20 minutes later. The police immediately launched an investigation and began tracking the suspect,” he said.

Kituuma said that upon his arrest, Police discovered that Alinga was a Catholic priest and that he had been suspended from the Church ministry by the bishop on allegations of stealing offertory worth sh6m.

“Investigations into Alinga’s connection with the murder of Ngorok are still ongoing. Once complete, the police will determine when to arraign him before the court,” he said.
