The locals in Mukono district have shown their gratitude to the Office of the Presidency for renovating the building which houses the office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), DISO and other security related offices in the district.

For some months now, Mukono RDC, Hajjati Fatuma Ndisaba Nabitaka together with her deputies, Mike Ssegawa and Rhonda Tiitwe Kagaga had shifted to give space for the renovation of their offices.

RDC Ndisaba, deputy RDC Ssegawa, DISO, Zonal Internal Security Organisation officer, Col. Moses Ssegujja had been housed at the Mukono district headquarter building whereas Tiitwe went to Mukono Municipality.

After their office’s refurbishment, the security officers went back to the building which looks more of a new one with a number of improvements that have made the locals who visit those offices to appreciate the development in comparison to the old situation.

Norah Namukasa, a resident of Joggo Cell in Goma Division whom our reporter found at the RDC’s office waiting to be served, said the pride of the Office of the Presidency in Mukono is now felt in the refurbished building.

“Unlike the previous situation where we squeezed ourselves in the RDC’s office when we turned up for her services, we now have a boardroom which can accommodate more numbers of her visitors and clients,” Namukasa said.

Umar Mugerwa said the RDC now can command more respect than before when she worked in an environment which also lacked decent sanitary facilities.

When Kyaggwe TV reporters visited Ndisaba in her new office, she led us around the newly refurbished office of the RDC, and thanked the President and the Minister for the Presidency for listening to her appeal for rehabilitation of the RDC’s office.

After the facelift she said, spacious offices looking as good as new, a state-of-the-art boardroom, water-borne washrooms and modern furniture have been provided.

Ndisaba disclosed that arrangements are being made for the official commissioning of the office, adding that thereafter, there will be no excuse for poor service delivery by her staff to communities.

She however appealed to the Presidency and Mengo Kingdom to consider erecting storeyed facilities in the premises, saying that with the ongoing development and urbanization speed, this is the way to go to save space.
