Bp. Kakooza applauded the students for their unwavering commitment for studies and also the staff members who are teaching them for providing them with well-rounded education.
The Bishop of Lugazi diocese, Christopher Kakooza has commended the administrators, teachers and students of St. Balikuddembe Senior Secondary School Kisoga for the outstanding performance exhibited from Senior Four and Senior Six results of last year and other previous years.
Bp. Kakooza said that the good news of the school’s outstanding performance now for years is not only felt within the school’s nearby communities but beyond its reach and that the parents and well-wishers are so excited of the positive development from both academic and co-curricular activities.
“When I told my friends that I am going to St. Balikuddembe Senior School Kisoga to celebrate this important day, they told me, greet the students, they had very good results,” he said.
The bishop made the remarks on Saturday July 13, 2024 during the school’s day celebrations held at its campus located at Kisoga cell in Ntenjeru-Kisoga Town Council in Mukono district.
He applauded the students for their unwavering commitment for studies and also the staff members who are teaching them for providing them with well-rounded education.
“I am impressed, the teachers’ timeless efforts in classrooms, sports fields, and in other activities have undoubtedly shaped the character and success of this school. The discipline of the students of St. Balikuddembe, their academic achievements, and all round excellence, your hard work, dedication, are an inspiration to us all. Please dear students, continue to strive for greater heights and know that the future is in your hands through the present that we are living now,” he stressed.
Bp. Kakooza also acknowledged the board of governors for their steadfast dedication to the betterment of the school, their guidance and oversight which have been instrumental in ensuring its continued growth.
He added; “Dear parents we thank you for loving and supporting this school. Your commitment to your children’s education is truly commendable, there is also a testament to the strong community that we have built this mighty institution together as the school and the parents, thank you very much.”
The bishop also blessed more than 30 students with a sacrament of confirmation, urging them to use the opportunity to grow their faith and spiritual journey.
“I pray that you may be filled with the holy spirit guiding you on the path of right choices and service to your fellow brothers and sisters,” he said adding;
“With God’s Grace and our collective efforts, St. Balikuddembe Senior School Kisoga has become a beacon of hope and of excellence in our diocese. Through the blessing that you have received from God and handwork, the whole school is now changed.”
Bp. Kakooza also praised the school headteacher, Lydia Lukwago Kagoya for her well-intended decisions and hard work that are exhibited in the all-round development of the school.
The school rewarded the outstanding performing students from last year’s Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with presents as an appreciation for their hard work but also as a sign of encouragement to the continuing students.
The awardees include Joel Mpinda who scored 20 points in BCM/ICT and Phionah Nandawula who also scored 20 points from Luganda, Economics, Entrepreneurship and sub-math. The lucky duo moved away with two million shillings each. Those who scored 19, 18 and 17 points were also rewarded accordingly.
The headteacher Kagoya said for the current Senior Six candidates, anyone who will score the maximum 20 points will receive three million shillings.
For having hit the target of more than 100 distinctions in UCE, the CRE department received five million shillings as a token of appreciation.
The school board of governors, Fr. Lawrence Tamale rewarded the school’s employee of the year, Masiyale Musoke with a brand new fridge.
The bishop also blessed and unveiled the school’s Grotto saying that with the statues of Mary, the mother of Jesus, that of Jesus, Joseph and Uganda Martyrs, the Catholics shouldn’t be misinterpreted that they believe and worship the images. He said that those are just symbols of what they believe in.
The Mukono South Member of Parliament, Fred Kayondo also acknowledged the outstanding performance of the school and linked it to its headteacher, Lydia Lukwago Kagoya.
“As an old student of St. Balikuddembe, I am so happy that the school is still producing other science students as I did with maximum points. Though I also did BCM like Mpinda Joel who joined Makerere University for medicine after scoring 20 points, myself I did industrial chemistry still at Makerere,” Kayondo said.
The function was graced by a number of priests, the first deputy Ssekiboobo of Kyaggwe county, Moses Kiyimba Ssenyonjo, headteachers from different primary and secondary schools, parents and well-wishers.
