Eight-Year-Old Knocked Dead by Speeding Vehicle in Mukono

The school community of OceanFields Preparatory School located at Kubbiri village in Nama sub-county, Mukono district were on Saturday gripped by fear following the death of one of their pupils who was knocked dead by a hit and run vehicle.

The school headteacher, Beatrice Byarugaba identified the deceased as Peter Ochira (8) who had been promoted to Primary Three.

 

The news of Ochira’s death was shared on the school’s social media forum on Saturday evening causing panic both the parents and the children.

Ochira has been a son of Peter Ochira and Joyce Nakibirango who police officers attached to different stations, residing at Kasangalabi cell in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality.

It is alleged that the deceased was knocked by a speeding vehicle on Mukono-Kayunga road when he was coming from a well to collect water.

Eyewitnesses told this publication that after knocking the boy, the driver did not stop. It was the good Samaritans that picked the victim from the scene of the accident to St. Francis Naggalama Hospital from where he was pronounced dead.

Ochira was on Monday buried at his ancestral grounds in Amuria district. May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
