Katosi Water Plant Shutdown, Mukono – Kampala to Face Water Shortage

A number of villages in Mukono Municipality and Kampala district are to spend the whole of Thursday dry following the planned shutdown of Katosi Water Treatment Plant by the management for routine maintenance.

In a public notice issued by National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to its customers, Thursday December 14, 2023 from 8:00am-5:00pm, the plant will be shutdown to enable UMEME Engineers undertake routine maintenance at the power grid that supplies the Katosi Water Treatment Plant.

Affected areas include; Mukono, Seeta, parts of Namugongo, Kyaliwajjala, Kira, Nsasa, Sonde, parts of Mutungo, Bukoto, Naguru, Bulindo, Ntinda and other surrounding areas.

“The above areas will experience low pressure and no water situations during this downtime, and immediately after as the system recharges. Customers are therefore advised to use the available water sparingly,” reads part of the notice.
