Kawempe North Member of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya has sounded a warning to National Unity Platform boss, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine to take time studying the utterances of Members of Parliament and other politicians around him.

Ssegirinya said many of those including NRM MPs are using the most popular opposition icon in Uganda today, Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as bait to attract the attention of President Yoweri Museveni’s cash and big government positions.

He made the remarks while appearing on NBS TV’s Sunday evening live show NBS Eagle.

He said: “The NRM MPs are now leveraging Robert Kyagulanyi’s popularity to gain favour with President Museveni and secure resources to counter Kyagulanyi’s mobilization efforts. Kyagulanyi is now the main cash crop.”

Kyagulanyi has for some time proved to be people’s darling but a challenge to the NRM government and President Museveni in particular.

Ssegirinya’s warning comes at a time when on May 24, 2023, NUP’s Bukoto South MP, Dr. Twaha Kagabo declared his allegiance to NRM’s MK Movement which is geared at mobilizing support for the First Son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who has expressed interest to stand for Presidency, come 2026.

NUP is having the biggest numbers of opposition MPs in Parliament but a number of them are not paying allegiance to their party President, Robert Kyagulanyi.
