The Territorial Police of Lugazi in Buikwe district are currently investigating a case of Aggravated Defilement (Sodomy) which occurred on the 2/4/2023 in Bunyangira village.
According to Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto, the victim whose name is withheld, is an 8-year-old Primary Three pupil of Bibbo Church of Uganda Primary School and a resident of Bunyangira village. It is alleged that on 2/4/2023 at around 1300hrs at Bunyagira village, Kawolo sub-county in Buikwe district, the victim’s father identified as Makanga Joseph, (33) reported to Lugazi police station that his son had been sodomized.
The suspect is Nambale Allan, a 19-year-old Senior 4 student of Namataba Senior Secondary School.
“During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to having committed the crime but told detectives that the spirits had possessed him to do it,” Butoto said in a press statement adding;
“We would like to assure the public that investigations are ongoing to establish more facts surrounding the lifestyle of the accused person, and we are committed to bringing justice to the victim and his family.”
She reminded the public that defilement is a heinous crime and perpetrators will face the full force of the law.
The Lugazi Region Police mouthpiece urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and take an active role in protecting their children.
Butoto promised that Police will keep the public updated on any further developments in the case.
